Good afternoon, buddy! Have you ever been when a tour captured a photo like this?

I wanna tell you about newthing that I learn, but let's see something urgent attention About This Planet!

Okay, now to the old tree above.

In local wisdom we call this langet bak kayee, and in conservation knowledge we know it 'Canopy disengagement' or 'crown shyness'. It is a natural phenomenon that occurs in some plant species. Common examples are usually seen in trees in the forest, such as pine, mangroves or Eucalyptus.

In the biological knowledge, the term canopy is even well known to anyone who has a hobby entering & out of the forest. In tropical rainforests, most plant and animal life are not found on the ground (ground floor) but can be found in the foliage world known as the canopy. Canopies that can be at a height of 100 feet (30 meters) from the ground are formed by overlapping branches and foliage of forest trees.

Researchers account that 70-90% of rainforest life is found in tree ecosystems, making it the richest habitat for plant and animal life. Many famous animals include orangutans, frogs, lizards, birds, sloths, and small cats found in the canopy. So this canopy is also what makes sunlight difficult to penetrate the tropical rain forest, which always awakes moisture as well as a place of refuge and a pleasant home for those who like calmness.

Crown shyness occurs when the crowns of some trees do not touch each other but form a canopy with a groove or a gap. This groove is easily visible and may occur in different plant species.

This natural phenomenon is still unclear the cause even though it has been studied since 1920. Some literature says because of the sensitive nature of a tree. There is also a mention because of the defense of trees against insects. It could also be because the frequency of light that causes tree growth to stop when too close to other trees.

Mysterious, huh? Just like a girl when suddenly sulking. Not yet known the cause even though researched all day. 🙊
