A group of scientists from Harvard University and Tufts University developed a biological robot from human cells, based on previous work with frog embryos, which allows parts of the human body to be recomposed. These multicellular robots are small devices of the width of a human hair called "Anthrobots."
Un grupo de científicos de de la Universidad de Harvard y la Universidad de Tufts desarrollaron un robot biológico a partir de células humanas, basado en un trabajo anterior con embriones de rana, que permite recomponer partes del cuerpo humano, estos robots multicelulares son pequeños dispositivos del ancho de un cabello llamados "Anthrobots".
In the same way that a seed autonomously develops and grows into a plant, these anthrobots also develop from a seed that consists of a human cell planted in an extra-cellular matrix where it develops into a the cellular machine we want to build.

According to one of the collaborators, "By reprogramming the interactions between cells, new multicellular structures can be invented, just as stone and brick create walls, arches or columns," meaning that anthrobots can be built for multiple specific therapeutic uses.
Según uno comenta uno de los colaboradores, "Al reprogramar las interacciones entre células, se pueden inventar nuevas estructuras multicelulares, así como la piedra y el ladrillo crean paredes, arcos o columnas", es decir que se podrán construir anthrobots para multiples usos terapéuticos específicos.
These anthrobots move using cilia, vibrating filaments that cover their membrane that allow them to move autonomously, regenerating damaged cells in their path or detecting cancers in very early stages of development, allowing us to kill them before they reach a dangerous size.
Estos anthrobots se desplazan utilizando cilios, unos filamentos vibrátiles que recubren su membrana que les permiten moverse de forma autónoma regenerando a su paso las células dañadas o detectando cánceres en etapas muy tempranas de desarrollo, que nos permitan acabar con él antes de que adquiera un tamaño peligroso.

One of the interesting things about these anthrobots is that, since they are made with human cells, they can be built with cells from the same patient, which prevents them from being rejected by the immune system. Furthermore, outside the body they can only survive in laboratory conditions, so there is no risk of loss of control.
Una de las cosas interesantes de estos anthrobots es que, al estar fabricados con células humans, pueden construirse con células del mismo paciente lo que evita que sean rechazados por el sistema inmune, además fuera del cuerpo solo pueden sobrevivir en condiciones de laboratorio por lo que no hay riesgo de descontrol.
To verify its operation, they carried out a laboratory test consisting of growing a two-dimensional layer of human neurons and then making a small wound. After the test, they noticed that there was a noticeable recovery in the injured area where these anthrobots passed, while in the other areas there was no healing.
Para verificar su funcionamiento, realizaron una prueba de laboratorio consistente en hacer crecer una capa bidimensional de neuronas humanas y luego realizar una pequeña herida. Finalizado el test notaron que se dio una recuperación sensible de la zona herida por donde pasaron estos anthrobots, mientras que en las demás zonas no hubo ninguna curación.
