According to experts, Arctic sea ice is decreasing at an alarming rate, almost thirteen percent every decade, and in the last thirty years, the oldest and thickest ice in the Arctic has shrunk by 95%, which can have catastrophic consequences for the planet if urgent measures are not taken to reverse the process.

Given the low temperatures in this area, if sea water is pumped over the ice it automatically freezes, creating successive layers of ice, making it more resistant to melting during the warmer summer weather, and these additional layers increase the albedo effect, that is, the heat reflected to the atmosphere increases, which reduces warming.
Dadas las bajas temperaturas de esta zona, si se bombea agua del mar sobre el hielo esta se congela automáticamente creando sucesivas capas de hielo, haciéndolo más resistente a la fusión durante el clima más cálido del verano, además de estas capas adicionales aumentan el efecto albedo, es decir aumenta el calor reflejado a la atmósfera lo que reduce el calentamiento.

It's interesting how the Dutch ingenuity in managing water inspires solutions to save the Arctic ice. Pumping seawater to refreeze the ice could be a game-changer for our planet's future.
