Apparently, there has been a growing interest and deployment of robots in the public safety field in the United States. Until now, robots were used exclusively in high-risk situations, such as bombs or suspicious packages, but now they are more like pets, which, although expected, personally scares me a little.
Según parece, en Estados Unidos ha habido un creciente interés y despliegue de robots en el ámbito de la seguridad pública. Hasta ahora los robots eran utilizados exclusivamente en situaciones de alto riesgo, como bombas o paquetes sospechosos, pero ahora serían más como un animal de compañía, cosa que, aunque era de esperar, personalmente me asusta un poco.
Although it must also be acknowledged that this means greater security for law enforcement officers who, specifically in countries like the USA, risk their lives day after day and in this sense robots can perform the most dangerous tasks, reducing the risk of injury or death for these people who, in theory, are there to defend us from bad guys.
Aunque también hay que reconocer que esto supone una mayor seguridad para los agentes del orden que, concretamente en países como USA, arriesgan su vida día tras día y en ese sentido los robots pueden realizar las tareas más peligrosas, reduciendo el riesgo de lesiones o muertes para estas personas que, en teoría, están para defendernos de los malos.

Security robots possess tools and capabilities that make them especially useful and that overcome human limitations in certain aspects. Robots can operate in hostile or dangerous environments, such as contaminated areas or burning buildings, and can lift and move heavy objects that would be difficult or impossible for a person to handle.

Thanks to their sensors and control systems, robots can perform tasks with millimetric precision, they are equipped with high-resolution cameras and infrared sensors, they can see in the dark or through smoke, allowing them to obtain valuable information in low visibility situations, some of them operating autonomously.

With all this, there is no doubt that for the security forces this is an invaluable complement, which allows them to handle situations that were previously extremely dangerous for the agents, but not everything is an advantage and I am not only referring to the fact that this is only the beginning of sending human agents to unemployment and leaving exclusively robots.

And this is extremely dangerous, not because of what robots can do to us per se - I am one of those who think that the only ones capable of destroying humanity are politicians if we do not put a stop to them - what is truly terrifying is that these machines will be in the hands of all kinds of dictators, even if they are disguised as social democrats and progresists.
Y esto es en extremo peligroso, no por lo que puedan hacernos los robots en sí, yo soy de los que piensan que los únicos capaces de acabar con la humanidad son los políticos si no les ponemos freno, lo realmente aterrador es que estas máquinas estarán en manos de todo tipo de dictadores, aunque vayan disfrazados de socialdemócratas y de progresistas.

The robot will provide security which surprised me. Human life has value, so it is a big deal that humans can be made to do dangerous work with robots.
Well we are in the age whereby the robot world are really controlling a whole lot of things and it is really looking certain that we are just actually starting
I have always knew that with the direction we are actually going, we will be going in the direction of robots controlling our society much more than we can ever expect
