Alan Turing was born on June 23, 1912 into a middle-class British family and from an early age he showed a great aptitude for science and mathematics, with only 16 years old he already understood the theories published a few years earlier by Albert Einstein.

In 1934 he obtained a degree in mathematics at the University of Cambridge and later published his work "On computable numbers" where he already laid the foundations of his "Calculating machine" that would go down in history as "Turing machine".
En 1934 obtuvo una licenciatura en matemáticas en la Universidad de Cambridge y posteriormente publicaría su trabajo "Sobre los números computables" donde ya sentaba las bases de su "Máquina de calcular" que pasaría a la historia como "Máquina de Turing".
This Alan Turing design consists of a device capable of manipulating symbols on a tape following the rules stored in a table, despite the fact that at first it was only conceived as a theoretical model, all computers created to date have been based on this Turing machine for their design.

As if this was not difficult enough, the Germans changed the encryption of the disks every day at midnight which made things even more complicated. Alan Turing designed a prototype called the "Bombe" that was finally able to decipher the messages from the Germans, which historians say shortened the duration of WWII by at least a couple of years.

Unfortunately the story does not have a happy ending, Alan Turing was homosexual and if nowadays, depending on which countries it is very risky to be homosexual, I do not even want to imagine what it would be like almost 100 years ago, the doctors of the time subjected him to all kinds of therapies and treatments to "cure" him as it was thought to be a disease.
Lamentablemente la historia no tiene un final feliz, Alan Turing era homosexual y si hoy en día en según que países es muy arriesgado ser homosexual no me quiero ni imaginar como sería hace casi 100 años, los médicos de la época le sometieron a todo tipo de terapias para "curarle" pues se pensaban que era una enfermedad.
