Hello My steemian friends!
Today I will show you some microscopic pictures of Ova of some parasitic worms That infect Human Being.I had taken these pictures during my "Microbiology posting " In My medical College.
ALL of you Might have suffered from worm infestation at some point of your life, but have you ever seen the eggs of these tiny worm that are infecting you???
Here we go!!
1. Trichuris Trichuria (whipworm)

This is the egg of Trichuris trichuria, also known as Whipworm.
Egg is elliptical with polar plugs at both ends. Egg contains embryo in it.
Acute infection of this worm causes diarrhoea, dysentery, abdominal pain.
Chronic infection cases Growth retardation in children and finger clubbing.[1]
2. Ascaris lumbricoides(Round worm)

This one is Unfertilized egg of Intestinal parasite Ascaris lumbricoides, the largest nematode parasite infecting human.This egg is heaviest of the helminthic eggs. Its feature are-[2]
- it is 90 µm in length and 50 µm wide
- Embryo is not seen, atrophic ovum is surrounded by refractile granules
- its bile stained , so it is yellowish in colour
Ascaris is on of the commonest parasites infecting human. It causes Ascariasis , a disease where you will have Diarrhoea, fever,abdominal pain..and at some time even the worms will come out with feaces. It can also cause pneumonia, body rashes.
How to prevent Worm infestation???
- Most of the worm infestation are transmitted through faeco oral route,i.e. through contaminated food, water and contaminated hand , so
- Use filtered or boiled water, wash vegetables properly before using , maintain good sanitation around you

Fascinating stuff. The world of the very small has always caught my attention wondering how something of that size can function properly at all, let alone cause so much shit (literally).
