THE PRODUCT OF OUR LIVES IS A FUNCTION OF WHOM WE LISTEN TO

I know you've heard of the Mount of transfiguration Sermon for a long time now and can relate it to others. You can check for the full #dailyguide devotion at @scripture-union blog.

My interest today was on verse 35 of Luke 9. It reads thus:

And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him (KJV).

We see God presenting Christ as an information, message, word and instruction channel to be listened to.

We all have our most-preferred media handle where we get the latest information. That's where God want us to place Christ. Christ has become God's media outlet and advert route. Christ is the first post on the "trending" tag. Christ as a message/post from God has received a promotion worth and infinital value. How do I know this?

Hebrews 1: 1-2

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

Christ is the transmitted message from God's Broadcasting Station on its highest frequency. He is the musings from God. God had to re-echo His words in Luke 3: 22, "...This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased".

By implication, God draws our attention to Christ as the embodiment of glory, power, sustenance, forgiveness, majesty, value and authority. God further demands that our attention be glued to Christ in the face of confusion of whether to take heed to Moses' "law" or Elijah's "fire". Christ has been presented as a MODEL to behold, be attentive to and whose life to imitate.

Hebrews 1: 3-4:

The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Hence, this message is a call to re-scaling of our priority. God demands that Christ - the image of perfection - should be our focus. All eyes, ears and hearts should be centered and fixed on Him. This comes with the assurance of hope, glory, power, authority and beauty. Moses had his attention fixed on Him and hos face was too brightened to behold.

The Psalmist said that when we look to him, we will not be ashamed. Thus, the antidote of shame is looking up to Christ.

God bless you real good.
