I was just thinking—would it be too weird to add a way to download audio from videos via Scrobble? These days, this is pretty common online; there are even projects on GitHub, if I’m not mistaken, where you can do this via the command line. It could be a nice extra feature to add to Scrobble.
Then maybe add an option for the user to share that they really liked a song and downloaded it via Scrobble, something like that.
Anything through youtube is not allowed, so not sure where you'd attempt to download things from. I.e. most youtube download things you see online are actively against youtube ToS, and we're trying to keep the site fully legal.
Ahhh, I see. Sometimes I just download the music from a video—there are some websites that let you do that. You paste the video link and can download just the MP3. I thought this was already pretty common these days, since so many people do it, haha.
But of course, you’re absolutely right—keeping the scrobble legal is the best thing you can do. That’s the way to go.
