The average depth of the ocean is about 12,000 ft. The deepest part of the ocean is called the Challenger Deep and is located beneath the western Pacific Ocean in the southern end of the Mariana Trench, which runs several hundred km southwest of the unite states of America territorial island of Guam.

It is named after the hms Challenger. whose crew first sounded the depths of the trench in 1875.

The Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest known point in Earths oceans. United States Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping measured the depth of the Challenger Deep at 10,994 meters (36,070 feet) below sea level with an estimated vertical accuracy of ± 40 meters in 2010. If Mount Everest were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water.

We need more people interested in sea exploration. I think we focus too much on outer space while we haven't even explored but 5% of the Ocean I believe. We have no clue about 1000's of creatures. There's SO MUCH left to explore. We might have the cure to cancer in some random fish we haven't discovered.
