The Bundestag adopted a law that allows special services to penetrate any device belonging to suspected offenders, not only related to terrorism.

Special services are increasingly resorting to interception of digital links to prevent crime or terrorist acts. German police are no exception and intends to use the new law to penetrate suspicious devices without having to force companies such as Apple and WhatsApp to leave behind their software. Under the new law, they will not even be asked at all.

According to Deutsche Welle, Deutsche Welle has already acquired the necessary specialized software for penetrating iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices. They also bought FinFisher, which defends the offices themselves from leaks, as happened with the NSA earlier this year.

According to German Home Office documents, RCIS will intercept communications directly from devices without making requests to WhatAapp, Apple and Telegram, which are likely to be missed.
