You never know when life is going to hit you below the belt.
One day you're sailing on smooth crystal clear ocean waters, slicing through the sea with a full sail, and the next a storm appears from nowhere, tossing you about like a rag doll, tearing up your sails and threatening to deliver you right to the bottom of the ocean, and you have that sickening feeling that all is lost.
The only answer is to carry on as best as possible. Scour the depths of your soul for whatever you have left in your life to be grateful for - there will be definitely something...and latch onto it with all your might.
Dig deep for a solution and follow up with appropriate action - no matter how small. Just never give up until the storm eventually blows over and little by little the suns come out for you again.
I knew a guy back home in New Zealand whose partner embezzled $750,000 leaving my friend to repay it.
His wife left him due to the financial pressure, taking his kids with her.
His elderly mother was so saddened by her son's misfortune that she died.
His father stricken with grief killed himself the same week.
So here is my friend, $750,000 in debt, his wife and kids have gone, his mother died and his father committed suicide - all in the space of a month.
Of all the people I have met over this years this guy had some of the most compelling reasons to give up...but he didn't and I have leveraged the incredible courage and resilience he displayed to ride out some very long and sad storms in my life as well.
Use whatever you find, wherever you find it, to give yourself the inspiration to keep getting yourself back up off the floor because you never know who is watching and who your courage ALSO inspires.
