I maintain that we're wired to recognise patterns. When we have words to describe those patterns, we call it 'Logic', and when we don't have words to describe them, we call it 'Instinct'.
You can't explain to yourself why you feel that crackling darkness in the air; just like you couldn't explain it to the despatcher; but your mind has recognised a pattern it can't put into words.
