A few weeks ago I sent some Steem to shapeshift and my transaction got stuck. I had to submit a support ticket in order to get it back, which happened days later.
The fact that I got my Steem refund shows that Shapeshift is actually a serious company, I never put that in doubt. Now, the weird thing is my refund deposit came from Bittrex.
As we speak, trading Steem is unavailable at Shapeshift and their last transfer was made 15 days ago, which leads me to believe that they have lost control over the @shapeshiftio account.
I asked Shapeshift Support if Steem would come back online but I did not get a reply on the issue.
This situation is a shame since Shapeshift was a very fast way to convert Steem to other currencies without using an exchange.
Maybe better to use other service to exchange?

Well, you dont have much of a choice at the moment really, you HAVE to use other service.
But I think it is better to have as many options as possible.

I've lost some bitcoins once on shapeshift and said never again even with polo fees I consider it much safer and faster. Don't know what happened to that exchange, it used to be good.
Never used shapeshift but I've generally heard good things about it.

I was thinking about using shapeshift but still have my doubts , Would you recommend it after all you've passed?
Yes I recommend them, I got my funds back and you can´t lose your steem since they have disable the option to deposit it.
Use them and if you have any troubles they will solve it with a support ticket.

Interesting. Shapeshift seems legit. I've had a transaction get stuck before too. Sent email and they fixed it within a day. Don't remember which type of coins were exchanged but it wasn't STEEM.

I've used shapeshift a few times since I've been into crypto and have never had any issues myself.
It's nice to know that when they do have issues that they get resolved easily.

Steem is currently unavailable on their site as an asset. Maybe they are having trouble sourcing the token or just wanted to discontinue it.
