Sharing Our Steem Earnings to Our Dialysis Support Group In Celebration of Kidney Month

in #sharing6 years ago (edited)

I have mentioned in many of my posts awhile back that I'm an admin of a Facebook Group of 6000 dialysis patients all over the Philippines and my awesome friend Donna (@dunnadelirium) and her husband are the founders of the said group. It's a support group focused in providing psycho-social support to fellow patients and we prioritize patient education and empowerment. We hold socials and meet-ups all over the country, in small groups, year round to promote friendship and camaraderie among our members. If you know anyone who is a dialysis patient, please inform them about our group and hopefully we can have them on board. We also welcome family members and friends who are willing to know more about how we live our lives as patients and how we overcome our challenges.

Here are snipets of what our group is about and the link to the actual Closed Facebook Group Dialysis Support Group, Philippines:

The Month of March is Kidney Month all over the world. @dunnadelirium and I decided to hold a contest in our support group for us to celebrate this month. Our group being online and virtual, we decided to make a contest similar to how contests are done in Steemit. Donna and I are dialysis patients too and we do not have much when it comes to money but we thought we can share our Steem earnings for the prizes. We calculated our current SBDs in our wallets and we decided to push through with the idea. We have a total of 3, 000 Pesos in prizes and that's around 20SBDs at the current rate. We decided to have a drawing contest ala Steemit. We have mechanics and we asked for a documentation of the process just like how it is usually done here in Steemit. We are so excited to see how this will come out. Hopefully, if this becomes successful, we can make more mini contests so our patient members will find the group engaging and rewarding. Who knows what talent and what projects may emerge from this small initiatives?

Here is our post regarding the contest on our Facebook page:

We have shared our ideas with our Steemit Achiever's community here in Steemit, which Donna and I are both part of, they are as excited as we are and they promise to be part of our group's future projects. That makes Donna and I happy because it is our goal to have more activities to help reach out to our fellow patients and engage them in fun and worthwhile activities. We want to prove that even if we're just an online/virtual group we can make a change and help people discover more to this life despite having this deadly disease. We are thankful to our group #steemitachievers and we are looking forward to collaborating with you in the future.

We actually plan to do more contests in the future like writing contests, clay molding contests, singing contests and a lot more arts events such as these. With these planned activities, we will also be in search of people we can invite to join Steemit, people who can make the platform even better. We will be searching for gems and invite them over to be a fellow Steemian. we will slowly show them the social media culture that Steemit has so it won't be difficult for them to adjust and understand the platform when they come onboard.

This is all experimental and we will slowly make this happen. We are grateful to our Steemit community, we probably won't have these ideas and resources if we aren't in the platform. Our #gratefulvibes want to pay it forward to our Dialysis Support Group, Philippines community. We owe it to Steemit and everything we have seen here, so far. We love it here! Our support group DSGP has been family to Donna and me and we are glad we also found a home in Steemit and a family in #steemitachievers.

Before I end this post let me show you a snipet of the comments Donna and I made when @dunnadelirium had her #introduceyourself post here in Steemit:

This is one great activity, participating maybe will lead to setting aside in a short while that you are having such a medical condition at the same time giving them a chance to receive a prize coming from the heart.

We will support you with this cause, #steemitachievers will find a way...

Thank you, we really appreciate your thoughts and support.
