RE: Showcase Sunday: The Spock Effect

IMHO Once/If/When real General AI kicks in, our species as we know it will no longer exist either by the destruction or the resolution of it. It will simply be something different or a very narrow niche. Something, like cassette player, that i sometimes turn on for because it gives that nostalgic feel the way it sounds.

Sort:

I think it will be an all or nothing result. Opportunity and availability in abundance or, zero.

That's vague topic where everything is possible. Some people think that we are already living in singularity, since if such a thing as general AI would happen to be it would develop so fast it theoretically could create means through available tools to take control of human consciousness and feed them with virtual reality.
I know i know, we all have seen The Matrix i guess, but i like the idea in general, since there is no way to approve or disapprove it :) And Trump... it definitely proves that even AI has a sense of humor :)

The idea of living in a simulation is interesting if a believer, because it essentially frees one up from having to play safe as what one is risking is a simulated life, not life itself.

Agree, it also takes care of a religion side, since it is just another interpretation. The only thing you risk is Game Over.
But i wonder can i still call myself and atheist if i would believe in life in a simulation even though i am a complete nihilist?

And also... do not want to get too philosophical... but it is opportunity and availability in abundance and zero at the same time. Depends how you look at it ofc. but basically it's relative and exists in superposition.
