Absolutely moving, @galenkp. I love that you're taking the time and making the effort to learn more about your father's experience and committing it to written history.
I've heard snippets, bits, and pieces from various family members, but I wish I had been able to coax more stories from my grandma about her WWII experience in Japanese-occupied Manila.
Japan's effort in the Second World War affected many including Australia direct which was bombed hundreds of times (Darwin). I think any who had to live under their occupation suffered greatly.
