I've personally been thinking of different apocalypse scenarios, and zombies being one. Many years ago I decided it would be paramount to move to the mountains. Hunting, fishing, and growing food are all very important. Also, making your own weapons, such as bow and arrow or sling shot would help in both defense and hunting. Depending on the type of zombies (there are many types) it may not be 6 months. Some zombie lore has them cannibalize each other if fresh "food" is not available. Just something else to add in. :)
