I used Ultrabrite toothpaste in my experiment and the results were nothing short of breathtaking. Just the residue of toothpaste on my finger removed the unattractive patina on my favorite silver pitcher. It was completely effortless. Over a week later, it is still bright and shiny.
It works for silver jewelry, too! I have also used it to polish silver jewelry, although if it has a setting, take care around that.
It may be that not all toothpastes are created equal when it comes to the removal of oxidization.
