Thanks again for looking, @olympicdragon. I think the black is the absence of light. I photographed it to bring out the detail, in the proof/mirror finish.
This red example, comes from a reflection, of a red object, held behind the camera.
Same coin with green sheet of paper, reflection.
Can't remember what reflector I used on this one. All the same Coin, needs to be mirror-proof.
