Hello, people of the interwebs.

Today Im doing a short post of a round I pulled out of a tube marked "assorted" from my vault. Its a tube of about 22 ounces of random rounds.

I know nothing about this round. My Google image search left me high and dry. But I like it.

No luck my friend I even asked ChatGPT.... and all it said was it was a year of the snake bullion coin.....

The characters are 新 世 纪 纪 元, arranged in a stylized square seal script.
Read normally, it says:
新世纪纪元 (Xīn shìjì jìyuán)
Meaning:
“New Century Era” or “Epoch of the New Century.”
This kind of inscription is common on commemorative Chinese medallions/coins made around the year 2000–2001, marking the start of the 21st century (which also aligns with the Year of the Snake in 2001).

Otherwise, I still don't know who minted this and at what mintage.
