The above face mask of 84% gold and weighing 280 grams was found in Sichuan in China and is believed to be 3000 years old.
It was "unearthed" with 500 other artefacts and as you can see gold still is as shiny as 3000 years ago or 4 billion years when it was created in stars colliding. (So I am told)

It belonged to rulers of the ancient Shu state, a kingdom that ruled in the western Sichuan basin until it was conquered in 316 BC.

In the same pit this bronze ( =copper and tin) artefact was found and as you can see bronze reacts with air and becomes green coperoxide. Gold however remains gold. It does ot react to other elements (except one man made acid).

This is the last picture of a find and of gold as well.

I heard gold is created as a certain combination of metal atoms colliding via Supernova nucleo-synthesis or collision of neutron stars. But God created gold and silver to screw the banks.

Ah good to know. There is a story about "talents" in the bible. That was a large amount of currency (maybe even gold or silver) in the region at the time. We must spill our talents is the message of the story.

Yes... gold remains unchanged. Sea water does not affect it!

Nice find, amazing how the gold still shines, after all them years.
I would so use that mask at the party.
