Hammered round….

Afternoon everyone….

There are several really good mints out there now a days. But the standards of the elites have been etched in time already. The original kings of the silver thrown are Engelhard (except no substitute) and Johnson Matthey. These are the elite standards to match.

There are two mints that I believe are the modern day versions of these mints. The Scottsdale Mint is the modern day Engelhard, and Geiger Edelmetalle is the modern day Johnson Matthey.

These are my opinions based on their standards of excellence, the length of time they have been holding those standards, and their popularity which commands higher premiums.

Don’t get me wrong, there are other mints that do impeccable work such as the Intaglio Mint and the Germania Mint but they haven’t been doing it long enough to even attempt to be put on this list yet.

You have seen me post many pieces from the Scottsdale Mint over the years. They make up a pretty good percentage of my stack.

Today I’m going to share a Tombstone silver round from them. I recently bought this during a dip, but have been too busy to take the pictures. I’ve shared a few Tombstone bars in the past, but this is totally different.

Here are the specs from the Scottsdale Mint website:

Embark on a journey to the Old West with our 1 oz Silver Hammered Round, meticulously crafted to honor the silver mining legacy of Tombstone, Arizona. Series: Tombstone Nugget Weight: 1 Troy oz Purity: .999 Silver Packaging: CoinZip Bag / Tubes of 20 Brilliant Uncirculated Mintage

Step back in time with our meticulously crafted 1 oz Silver Hammered Round, paying homage to the storied history of Tombstone, Arizona—the legendary town of the Wild West. This round is not just a piece of precious metal; it's a tangible link to an era defined by silver mining, gunfights, and the relentless pursuit of wealth.

Emblazoned with a hammered finish, each round is a testament to the rugged nature of the silver mining days in Tombstone.

Tombstone rose to fame in the late 1800s as a boomtown fueled by silver mining. The town became synonymous with the rough-and-tumble lifestyle of the Old West, with its streets witnessing the likes of Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday. The silver mined from the area played a pivotal role in shaping the economy of the region and the nation itself.

This 1 oz Silver Hammered Round allows you to hold a piece of history in your hands. Whether you're a seasoned collector or someone captivated by the tales of the Wild West, this round embodies the spirit of Tombstone, echoing the clinks of pickaxes against rock and the promise of silver fortunes. Secure your piece of the Old West today and relive the legacy of Tombstone, where silver dreams were forged in the crucible of history.

After receiving this piece, I wish that I had bought more of them. Maybe we will get a dip when I have some money.

Side note: This might be the absolute hardest piece I’ve ever had to take pictures of EVER!!!!

Now for the round….

I also took pictures with the lights dimmed to show off the detail of the round.

That's such a cool finish. Tombstone Would be a cool place to spend a day if I ever get to Phoenix.

They are really cool rounds but look really hard to photograph. Very nice round, it's a very cool one!

I think the round came out the same time as the 5 oz. and 10 oz. silver nuggets for those inclined to get a set.
