Silver is just silver right? Wrong. While technically you are correct, but not all silver is created equally.
There are hundreds of mints out there that produce silver. Most produce both bars and rounds, while some produce coins as well.
But not all mints are created equally. Some take great pride in their work and produce very high quality silver products. They won’t let subpar products leave their facility. Instead they will melt them back down and use the metal again to produce a piece worthy of their name.
There are several that meet this standard of excellence. But today I’m going to focus on just one Mint Geiger Edelmetalle.
Geiger Edelmetalle dates back to 1218 when its founders worked to establish the first Silver trade in Germany. It started in Leipzig and was embraced by the rest of the world. Now, Geiger has offices near the grand Schloss Güldengossa castle and houses its production facilities in a nearly abandoned 1930s factory. They now have three facilities, two are in Germany and one is in Switzerland.
They have been producing fine silver bars since the mid 1930’s. That standard is still true today. They have a special mint mark to prevent counterfeiting, which was one of the first mints to establish this.
If you haven’t realized it by now, I’m a big fan of Geiger products, and own a share of them as well.
Today I’m going to share with you a poured bar from them. It’s a 500 gram (which is a half kilo) bar. The bar is in the traditional square style which is my favorite design of theirs.
The bar comes wrapped directly from the mint, with an assay certificate for authenticity.
