I have always been an avid mythology person. I read a lot of books on them in my youth. So when the Intaglio Mint began this series, it was a no brainer for me. Silver and mythology…. WIN
Here is a piece from one of my orders from the Intaglio Mint. I’ve really been scaling back on buying with these prices
As you all are aware I am kinda the Intaglio Mint boy. They just produce such high quality, well designed silver rounds. It’s hard to not want to buy them.
I’ve gotten to the point with my silver buying that I only buy things that I truly like.
So…..
This is yet another piece from the Intaglio Mint Greek Mythology series. If I counted correctly, this is their tenth piece of the series.
The round is of Heracles, the God of strength and heroes Divine protector of mankind and the patron of the gymnasium.
Not to be confused with the Roman god Hercules.
Here is a little information from Wikipedia: Heracles (/ˈhɛrəkliːz/ HERR-ə-kleez; Greek: Ἡρακλῆς, lit. "glory/fame of Hera"), born Alcaeus (Ἀλκαῖος, Alkaios) or Alcides (Ἀλκείδης, Alkeidēs), was a divine hero in Greek mythology, the son of Zeus and Alcmene, and the foster son of Amphitryon. He was a descendant and half-brother (as they are both sired by the god Zeus) of Perseus. He was the greatest of the Greek heroes, the ancestor of royal clans who claimed to be Heracleidae (Ἡρακλεῖδαι), and a champion of the Olympian order against chthonic monsters. In Rome and the modern West, he is known as Hercules, with whom the later Roman emperors, in particular Commodus and Maximian, often identified themselves. Details of his cult were adapted to Rome as well.
