Things are really getting bad for my business. Our lovely president is doing everything in his power to put me out of business!!!!
I’m a small shop, it’s just me and that means I don’t have the money or space to buy materials in bulk orders. With all the turmoil going on with Canada recently it’s putting a major strain on me not only financially but also with getting specific items that I absolutely need.
There is only one company in the entire United States that makes furniture grade plywood. The problem is they are in the Midwest, very small in comparison to all of the companies in Canada and don’t ship past Ohio. So I’m out of luck with them.
My main supplier was told directly from the two biggest furniture grade plywood companies in Canada, that they are not allowed currently to ship any products to the United States.
While I was on vacation that very same supplier sent out an email with price increases for that very same plywood. Those increases were extremely steep, putting prices pretty close to pricing during Covid.
At this rate I won’t be working much longer with no chance of getting the main materials that are required for my work. I’m not in a great mood.

STOPAnd thought that lumber prices were steep to begin with on my side of the border when I got my fence fixed. Adding another 50% on the cost of your Bill of materials would be shocking. 70% of Canada's business goes to the USA, I'm left wondering how our economy is going to deal with this. We're already well into a recession and our PM is only making this worse. I'm almost convinced that this is deliberate sabotage to kneecap North America. And who benefits? China? England?
