Today is not a silver post. It’s a technology post.
My girlfriend’s son is part of the robotics team in high school. They get seven weeks from the games announcement to make a robot for the competition. Each year the competition has different elements to score points.
One of the elements was having the robot throw balls into an elevated platform via a hexagonal funnel. The robot needs to not only be able to throw the balls, but be able to retrieve them from the playing field in order to throw them.
Today is the first regional match. There are 32 schools all here competing. We are here supporting the team.
Here is what the playing field looks like.
It quite interesting how it all happens. So in order to practice with the robot, you are given specs to the exact size the field components are.
I volunteered to build them a wooden version of it. Here is what I made.
