Swamped but productive…

Afternoon everyone….

I’ll continue from last nights post. So, just after ten o’clock last night. I went out to the shop to check on the panels I had glued up and clamped just before I wrote yesterday’s post.

They were boarder line set, meaning it was questionable whether I should unclamp them or not. I decided that if I got myself setup to do the remaining doors, which would take close to an hour. I’d be comfortable with it.

I took my time and was very careful with the doors as unclamping them and putting them on my drying rack. Just after midnight I completed the gluing up the remaining doors.

Fast forward to today….

Even with getting to bed so late, I was up at my typical 4:30am as always. I was in the shop by five. I left the final set of doors clamped while I set up for my sanding station.

By noon I had all of the doors sanded, stained, and sealed. I fine sanded all of them down and wiped all of the surfaces to prepare them for lacquer.

I have managed to get two complete coats front, edges and back on all of the doors and drawer fronts.

I’m writing this while taking a break to finally eat something. Then I’m heading back into the shop to apply the final two coats.

That means all of them can dry and begin curing overnight and I can start attaching the hinges and setting them on the cabinets in the morning.

Part of the last order I made from the Intaglio Mint. They still make remarkable rounds, but at these prices I’m not a buyer.

Today’s round also has a killer design, no pun intended. The round features a skull holding two handguns with the inscription “Dulce Periculum”.

The MacAulay clan motto is "Dulce periculum" (Danger is sweet) and the clan crest features a spurred boot. Spurs were once an object denoting chivalric rank, so the inclusion of the spur might represent a high-ranking horsemen.

So check out this awesome round…

The detail that they get on these pieces is just tremendous. Just look at all of the crevices and shadows in the round. Just spectacular.

That thing is awesome, I know the swamped feeling all too well

I agree with you. The design is indeed cool. I only have one piece with a similar theme: the Zombuff silver round.
