There have been many excellent articles written about the gold:silver ratio — and several right here on Hive. And there is good reason for it. If you get it right you can make a lot of loot! Check out the 100 year chart, and notice that it peaks at about 110:1
And now let’s zoom in on the last year, with particular attention on March/April
So, if you had a good spot to exchange your gold, you could have got 124 ounces of Silver for 1 ounce of gold. And today?
Swap back 97 ounces of silver, get your 1oz gold back, and have realized about 27ozs of silver in profit. Now of course swapping/buying/selling metals comes with fees and premiums — particularly when it’s the real phyzzical stuff — but there are great opportunities here. Personally, I did not expect the spike up to 124:1 but that was related to all the Covid-19 business. Now it appears Silver has regained some level of normalcy, although it is still at 5,000 year highs!!! So that spike was an anomaly not seen in 5 millenia. Crazy shit hey?
The historical average is somewhere between 10-15:1, and coincidentally, this is about the relative distribution in the Earth’s crust. So many good reasons to be stacking silver right now.
Perhaps Gold will go on another berserker run in the near future, who knows? But having some of each, and be willing to trade it, could yield some pretty impressive returns.
