Sacred Calling-Ain't For You!

in #singleblessedness6 years ago (edited)

Being single is not a bad thing or a generational curse. People who are unmarried faces the societal pressure to be one . From where I come from, Asian culture is considerably tough to often reasons out as to why "single blessedness" is ramphant and deviant to traditions nowadays. Personally, it is my utmost preference to embrace singlehood. Apart from being a practical choice, moreso, it is solely a calling.

"Blessed Singleness" is not for everyone. Likewise, marriage is not for everyone. Two separate entity, each with separate calling. With marriage, it is such a blessing for those who worked out their union pretty well and were able to profess and meant it by heart "in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, till death do as part". This union is highly commendable and a true gem, indeed. Choosing and marrying the right person is very crucial. It could either break you or make you.

Having several friends and loved ones who were happily married, forcefully married, married out of convenience, worst, regrettably/unfaithfully married is likened to a roller coaster ride with add ons: priorities, expenses, hurts and sacrifices.

Based on reading articles, listening to testimonies/personal stories, and watching documentaries on 'marriage' boils down to one essential keyword-HARD WORK. Marriage calls on putting a lot of hard work. Staying in love, respect, providing, sustaining for the family, and disciplining the children is tough work. Making it work is the objective in any relationships. Ultimately, marriage is sacred.

On the contrary, 'Single Blessedness' has its ups and downs too. Being single does not equate to simply being lonely and boring. A person can be alone but not lonely. Being single has its own perks: peace and quite, time and financial freedom.

Hence, at the end of the day, it is a matter of personal choice. I am utterly blissful to be unwed and without children. It is my utmost preference to embrace 'single blessedness' and live life to the fullest. Stay wiser each day and choose happiness-always.
