Well I think it has to do with the country that individual resides . Here in Africa we call people sir out of respect . But I think in the western world , you guys don't fancy it. But tell me @abh12345, how does being called SIR make you feel???

Nowadays in the UK, the word is generally reserved for School Teachers, and those who've been been Knighted.

Ahahha I am so suprised to see my name in it but yeah I get a lot of sir.
In the Philippines it is used as a sign of respect to those who hold power or have a higher position which is why I don't really like being called it because it denotes that someone can look down on another person and I am a believer that everyone is an equal.
The number of females called sir was so funny. If you use bro you might have a number of them listing @evecab I don't know how anyone could mistake her as a bro! Hahaha

Personally I prefer Overlord and keeper of the food. I usually joke that whenever someone calls me sir in my work. I usually get a blank eyed stare till I tell them it's a joke. Humor humanizes me.

I’ve been messing around a little bit with blockchain data. Just my own comments and blog for now. So I know I’ve at least said “sir” 25 times since the last time I acquired my data. I had some satire posts in past about a rich fake billionaire.

@sistem is right and "sir" isn't just used in African countries, but also all over Asia (India and Nepal that I know of).
I used to be called Ma'am in the Philippines and hated it, even though it is a form of respect and almost automatically used there.
In fact, it's very strange that there are very few "ma'am" used on Steemit.... hmmmm
Harder to program the bot with gender difference without a specific field stating if you got goolies or not. Everyone's a Sir until then!

Yes, to my surprise I was also called sir sometimes. But the most annoying is that you sometimes get a reply that is not at all related to your post like I follow you, you follow me. Worse sometimes they give you a 'compliment' about your post, while their answer shows that they have not read it or have not understood it. I ignore those comments and hope they will stop once they understand I will not upvote their comment.

Yes I agree. It's not so bad (at least for the guys) to be called Sir, and shouldn't be taken offensively.
But the replies that show that the post has not been read are a real nuisance, and it's certainly best to ignore, or even give a small flag of discouragement to those.
