Behind every view there's a story. Behind this view is a story of a business that failed recently. They failed to pay rent, pay wages, to make profits and finally wound up. It's a story of heartache, pain and struggle. Pain of relentless efforts that go in vain. Many families have in the past acquired this property, tried running it as a restaurant and gave up. Probably the rents were too high. Probably Melbourne's winter makes a water front property less charming.
The views are spectacular. It used to be my favourite haunt. On a summer evening, you could get a beer and some decent food down here. The space overlooked a tiny beach. Kids could run around, build sand castles, play chess, meet friends. I went there last weekend to see it permanently shut. Life ain't easy for small businesses!
Name of the restaurant and the suburb withheld. People living in the area know this joint and the view too well!
