Yes, they were free. But now I'm holding Dash instead bought at $525. Not sure where Dash is heading, but it's probably going to hold its value OK. I just figured that money is of no use to me floating around in cyberspace. If I can't spend it, it's as worthless as paper money.
Edit: Dash is now at $495 so will definitely be waiting for an upswing before buying any Amazon gift cards. Looks like this has turned into a trading exercise rather than a simple purchase. Still, I can continue to accumulate SMART in the meantime...
