Troubleshooting your Smartnode with smartcash-cli getinfo

So you are having some issues with your smartnode. One of the most useful commands to gain insight into what is happening is the getinfo command. This article helps explain the output of the command and how it could be used in troubleshooting.

1. Logon to your smartnode

Use your SSH client (Bitvise, PuTTY, etc) on Windows, or Terminal on OSX to login to your smartnode server. Remember to login as your smartadmin user and not the root user.

2. Issue the command

Once logged in type the following:

smartcash-cli getinfo

(Note: Linux is case-sensitive).

3. Version

This is the version number. This can change with software updates. The current version is 1010000 - ensure you have the same.

4. Protocol Version

This is the protocol version number. This can change with software updates. The current version is 90024 - ensure you have the same number.

5. Wallet Version

This is the wallet version number. This can change with software updates. The current version is 130000 - ensure you have the same number.

6. Blocks

This is the block number your smartnode has syncronised up to. This is continuously increasingly. Check with the block explorer https://explorer3.smartcash.cc/ to see if your node is upto date. If it is not up to date, that maybe the cause of your problem.

7. Connections

This shows the number of network connections has with its peers. If the number is 0 then blocks will not be syncing, and you will need to investigate. If the number is less than 8, then syncing may be a little slow.

8. Summary

The getinfo command is useful for the first line in troubleshooting. It allows you to see issues such as outdated software, block synchronisation and potential network problems. It's recommended as one of the early steps in troubleshooting your smartnode.
