Eating Rose Hips?

Roses are some of the most interesting plants out there. They are related to apples and Hawthorne. There are many many many varieties of roses out there. They all produce a gorgeous flower, and then a much less interesting and known fruit: the rose hip.

For the most part, rose hips are hard Woody seedy things. A few varieties have a little more fleshy fruit. Some varieties like the local Nootka rose her on Vancouver Island, have a Hip that is only edible after it has been softened by frost.

My favorite Hip out there has to be the Hip of the Damascus 🌹

The Damascus Rose is different from
Other roses. It is a bushy shrub. It gets used a lot in landscaping where I live. The flowers are gorgeous and soooooooo aromatic.
It's hips are huge and juicy and perfect for making into the delectable Rose Hip Butter. Mmmmmmmmmm

Rosehip is super nutritious. Full of vitamin c. Tart and yummy. If you ever find them out there give them a taste. The flesh around the seed mass is what you eat. Make sure to stay away from the seeds. They are a severe irritant in your body of you eat them
