Vice.org is NOT affiliated with Vice.com or Vice Media according to Penthouse CEO

in #smt6 years ago (edited)

There has been some confusion recently about the company launching an SMT for adult content called Vice.org and whether or not they are affiliated with the Vice.com media empire.

@jerrybanfield claims in one of his recent videos that the two are affiliated, however I remained skeptical of the evidence he presented and let him know in his discord channel.

I decided to email Kelly Holland, the CEO of Penthouse Magazine to get to the truth and clear up any confusion.

Here was her response:

So there you have it everyone, Vice.org is in no way affiliated with Vice.com, and apparently will be changing it's name soon to clear up the confusion?

Thanks for reading and let me know what you think in the comments below!

I think that the error is Penthouse and Vice Media, not registering all the extensions for your website and thereby avoid being robbed of the name, or someone intends to use something similar.

Yes Jose that is a big basic branding mistake because who would figure a top website in the world would not also get the.org? I am happy to see that the name will be changed to prevent confusion!

I have paid attention that lately @jerrybanfield is talking a lot and never to the facts.

Is that a fact?

Obvious mistake to make and just because they say they are not affiliated doesn't mean they once were not of the same egg they are just denying it now for legal reasons. Get with the times people, corporate entities are not peddlers of the truth. At least jerry is human and trying to enlighten a few.

Seems to be, yes.

I thought that was weird alright. I think Jerry needs to be a bit more thorough in his research and not jump the gun in order to get a post out. Exciting , all the same that people are starting to get behind SMTs.

As an artist I instantly saw the woman bending over in their 'V' logo as was like wtf? Then I read further. The future is weird lol...

That those two would be affiliated never even crossed my mind, lol.

That is not wise to be vice

and i think they are the same from the start lol

Thank you for researching this because I reasonably assumed that any coin launching off of vice.org and using @vicecoin as the name would be confident in the Vice branding given that they would be putting themselves in the perfect position to get sued without having that permission. I am very grateful Kelly clarified in the email and you shared it here that they are changing the name because they recognize that how they branded it is confusing also. It is better for all of us to correct this before the coin launches! I will do a follow up video explaining this from your post!

Oops. LOL

I shouldnt have told you about this.
