Steemians are currently able to do this, though the metrics aren't as advanced as even I would like. To gauge this on Steemit, simply look at the likes to comments ratio and study overall user engagement on the articles you post. You'll see a trend within topics posted that some are better received than others.
What we currently have is far too crude and rudimentary so I do agree, better data analysis would be great have and would be beneficial for writers to use as a tool to improve themselves. However, this new tool could become a target for abuse as well.
