I'm on a roll!!!
Seriously what is up with all the Garter Snakes? And my isn't this one a little beauty too! This little Garter Snake had some of the most brightest vivid color markings on him. More vivid then the big Garter Snake I caught last weekend.
I caught this little guy not far from the bike path in some trees and bushes. He almost got away and I thought I missed my chance at catching him. But y'all know me, I was determined!
I had to think fast! The trees and bushes were growing around a fence line. There wasn't access to the one side of the fence so I had to go around into the trees. I watched the snake slither straight up the fence line and behind one of the trees that was in my way. The low hanging branches made it difficult to get close enough that I could get him. Amazingly enough, the snake slithered around the tree to the other side allowing me to get him. I had to duck low and lunge forward a bit but I managed to grab the last few inches of him before he could get away. GOTCHA!!!
Oh was this little Garter snake active too!!! It was actually hard to take pictures of him because he wouldn't stay still. I Got a couple good pictures of him smiling while trying to devour my finger as you can see above HA HA. He didn't like being caught one bit!
This little guy was a lot smaller then the Garter Snake I caught a few weeks ago. Not by much but he was definitely smaller. Maybe between a foot and a quarter to a foot and a half long. Here is the link to the other little Garter Snake I caught a few weeks ago:
