Sndbox Summer Camp – Project Development: Luminus(An initiative for game developers)

in #sndboxquest6 years ago (edited)

Welcome Steemians. In this opportunity I will present my project Luminus: An initiative for game developers, a couple of months ago I have been thinking about its realization. The general objective of this proposal is to support all those initiatives and ideas that arise in the Steemians community about the creation and design of a videogame. This idea comes from my perspective as a programmer, I”m clear that there are many good projects and ideas that never bear fruit, this is largely due to the lack of funding from a third entity.

Most people don”t know the hard work behind these wonderful graphics and those realistic dynamics that show us a lot of video games today, the truth behind all this is that most of the time the procedure that has to be carried out for the creation of a videogame is very complex, and in cases where it's not, it surely requires a great investment of time. In short, whether it”s sometimes easy, complex or maybe we have the necessary resources or not, the truth is that there are many good ideas that never come to flourish, and if they manage it, sometimes they never go noticed, this publication was created to give a possible solution to this problem. However, before we highlight what are the possible causes behind these kinds of issues:

1. Perhaps you don”t have the necessary resources to carry out the project in a long-term (This may include so many things, and it can be said that it”s the main cause, most of the times due to this, the original idea cannot be properly projected, leaving with this, only shadows of what you imagined).

2. The idea is good, but there isn't a working group with which tasks can be divided (This” probably the second cause of the abandonment of large projects).

3. Lack of time, dedication and focus (Possibly a consequence of the first, due to lack of resources, the need for a job arises, at this point you may have some good ideas, but carrying them out means a big investment of time).

Having already posed the possible causes that many programmers have when creating their own videogames, now I can begin to give possible solutions and then say how this fabulous social network can help us to put an end to these problems. In Steemit we can find everything from doctors of science, engineers, businessmen to entrepreneurs, all with a single purpose "To make Steemit the most known and used social network in the world" and how does it benefit them? The answer is simple, and that”s through this way Steem is revalued. In short, there are programmers, as there are also players, consumers who undoubtedly, many of them would be willing to support a project with their votes, all this for getting memberships, objects, vanities or other special things in the videogame when it is launched. This would bring great benefits for both sides, also it would undoubtedly attract a large number of interested users to the network.

With this we could motivate them, give them a focus and even make them to be dedicated exclusively to this. Also through this means we could make programmers connect with others (I'm sure this is already happening) and collaborate together on the project, this would make a great development group. This can be done with certain very specific rules, one of them would be to keep users on track, and have them periodically presenting their advances, versions or improvements, all with detailed tests, fixes, patches and videos. The community itself can be involved in the development, suggesting and approving or not a major change in the game.

For the voting system, the rules of @sndbox will be followed, the code, as well as patches or other content of the game must be obligatorily uploaded to github and the link must be placed in the publication.

This idea serves to apply to any initiative, however here I”m focusing on videogames, but this can extend its goals and then give support to any application of smartphone, pc, board games or physical.

With this I finish, and as we can see, as expected the money largely solves all the causes, and nothing is better than developing content receiving one or the other recognition for the effort. I”m clear that Steemit can do this and much more for the world, so it”s our duty as users to make this social network grow in the best way, this is the way.

First of all, I want to thank @anomadsoul, @guysfawkes4-20 and @sndbox for giving us the opportunity to participate in this mission.

I created all the images shown in this publication.
