Hello! Today is the day I write my story for the challenge/ contest @snook has created for us! The Create Your Fairy Challenge is open to all and the winners will be chosen randomly. All you have to do is create a fairy, a story, and use the #snookschallenge1 tag on the post!
Since I have been using my Second Life game as a backdrop to my recent stories, I once again flew to the game to make my fairy. I searched through my fairy outfits, (of course I have a few), and found a pair of cute wings. I threw on a ballgown complete with accessories, and then choose one of my favorite hair dos.
Second life is great for pictures because you can search for public places other players have built and then take as many photos as you want. I am sure I will have plenty of left over pictures since I have been getting pretty good at taking my avatar's picture, and choose to have too many rather than to have to go back into the game to get a picture to go along with the story.
It's all very technical really, I won't bore you with the details....
On with the story!!
Castle of Fae, Arctic Wolf
Vivi Shadowbloom lived off the coast of Antarctica and reined as the queen of the Arctic Fae. She along with hundreds of other fairies, lived in the old, glorious Castle of Fae for many centuries. They greeted and often got along with the touring human folk, living joyfully and without a care in the world.
As a young fairy queen, Vivi loved being a fairy and possessing many fairy powers. She treasured her fairy skills and practiced them day and night.
It was tradition that the human folk would visit the Castle of Fae in the early fall when the leaves of the trees changed colors. When they visited they would bring food and gifts to the fairies as a token of respect.
In turn, the fairies would also respect the human folk.
Every fall, the castle filled with hundreds of human folk desperately eager to catch a glimpse of a fairy. For centuries the human folk and the fairies respected each other during this time. For the rest of the year, the human folk would leave the fairies in peace.
Vivi looked around at the abandoned Castle of Fae and sighed. The leaves of the trees have changed their colors and still there were no visitors.
It had been decades since any other fairy had even visited the castle.
Vivi knew it was all her fault.
But what was she to do? The human folk no longer offered gifts. They no longer respected the trade... They no longer left them in peace.
So she started stealing small items and tangling the human folks' hair while they slept. She would often lead the human folk astray until they were lost in the woods.
It was Vivi kidnapping the human folk that drove them away for good.
Vivi stuck to her guns when the other fairies left.
Now she believed her lonely life was too much to bear, and had to come to an end.
Realm of Light, Realm of Light
As Vivi contemplated her lonely life, she remembered the words of her beloved cousin, Amber, "Come with us to the Realm of Light!"
Vivi had never traveled to the Realm of Light before, but now she was curious of what a bright new world this place must be. After all, the other fairies left to live there, and then never returned. Surely it must be a lovely place for a fairy to live.
Vivi's cousin Amber greeted her as soon as she arrived. "I knew you would come. Oh, I knew it! Wait until I tell you everything!"
Amber talked a mile a minute about how she loved living in the Realm of Light, and about all the new fairy friends she has met while staying there. And then she told Vivi the best part, "And there is no human folk! Like, ever!" she said with a laugh.
As Vivi explored the new village she was greeted by many new fairies and woodland creatures. Vivi was assigned a fairy guide named, "Shebob" that showed her around the land.
Majestic unicorns roamed the flowered paths, leading to her beloved arctic sea. She choose her home by the coast where the whales danced with glee.
Years went by and Vivi lived in her little home by the sea. It wasn't as grand as the Castle she was accustomed to, but it was very cozy and filled with life.
Amber taught her all the new fairy dances, and Vivi tried her hand at playing the harp. The forest was very tranquil and the days slipped by unnoticed.
Before long, Vivi was painting beautiful paintings, and spending her afternoons daydreaming on the forest floor.
She was never alone, as the many forest creatures were always following her around.
After a few decades, Vivi forgot about the Castle of Fae and the loneliness she felt while staying there by herself. She wondered why it had took her so long to change her heart, and her mind.
The Realm of Light was a beautiful place, and she should have moved here with the others.
Lucky for her, fairies are very forgiving!
The fairies of the Realm of Light loved Vivi and once again accepted her as their queen. She was given a throne of flowers and her own unicorn mount Vivi named, "Spartacus"
Until this day, Vivi Shadowbloom reins as the Queen of the Arctic Fae. She can be found riding Spartacus, free of any worries, or interference from the human folk.
She no longer thinks of those dark days as she resides in the Realm of Light.

Thank you!! Yes it was very fun to take those photos. When I found the unicorn to ride I about freaked out! I had to take a flying mount picture in front of the moon like I used to in WoW, just for old times sake :D
