Welcome to week 5 of the SoCal Spotlight!

Each week the SoCal Spotlight highlights five of the awesome posts from #socalsteemit! So, lets dive on in and see what kind of cool stuff the SoCal Steemians have been posting about this week!

Up first in this weeks spotlight we have @beckymeep who tells us the story about a very rainy road trip to Oregon where she and @csusbgeochem1 had to camp multiple days in the rain and had gotten completely soaked. But they ended up getting some relief from the weather on the final night by getting a really nice cozy little Yurt to stay in!!

Up next we have @dennisauburn who takes us with him to the annual Spring Harp Fest in La Mesa. There were multiple blues bands playing and even a harmonica playing competition! The festival looks like it was a lot of fun and to make it even better they have a fund raising effort where they buy harmonicas for schools and give lessons!

The third featured post in this weeks spotlight is a tale of friendship by @zeterahedron369 who introduces us to her best friend since childhood. The beautiful pin up model known as Melanie Monsters! She tells us a bit about their long past and their relationship at present. And she features lots of great photos of Melanie!

I woke up this morning thinking about my best friend growing up...

The fourth featured post this week is from @madpotters who fairly recently made the move from New York to San Diego and she just discovered the delicious Asian fruit that grows out here in SoCal called loquats! She shares the story of her discovery as well as her technique for harvesting and eating them. If you know how good loquats are you will surely understand the excitement of the first time trying them. And now she even plans to try to grow a loquat tree herself!

Have you ever eaten a loquat?

The fifth and final feature for this weeks Spotlight is a post by @zingali who participated in fellow SoCal Steemit member @mariannewest's "5 minute freewrite" with the topic 'Blue'. And while blue can be a pretty color it can also mean being in a depressed mood. @zingali explains to us a bit about his "blues" and how they are clinical and not situational, and the difference between the two.

Thanks for picking my post to be featured! Really is an honor to be highlighted as there are so many great posts to pick from

I love all the "Off leash adventures"!

Good cos there will be plenty more to come! :-D

Excellent roundup. SoCal is amazingly diverse. It always amazes me when someone says "Oh, you're from southern California, so you must be...."

Thanks @dennisauburn. I totally agree. It's very diverse. Everyone gets their idea of California from just Hollywood. Beaches and palm trees and movie stars. But he facts are that despite having a long coastline the majority of the state is actually mountains and desert and is full of such a rich variety of people!

Best friends with big and beautiful loquats, yummy! lolxx.
Hey @derekricherdson am waiting for your posts and comments haha!

i am obsessed with these loquats!!! just found out that there are more trees scattered around the neighborhood...and I seem to be the only one thats really excited about it! thats fine though, more fruit for me. hahaha.

Me too. I love loquats! Thanks for looking for my posts, sorry I haven't had time to write one in awhile. I've been really busy at work. Hopefully I'll get one written up sometime this week.
