When a team like Croatia deservedly makes it to the World Cup Final, plays better in most respects than the eventual winners, and loses with grace and dignity, world football is taking a huge step into the real 21st century. As a fanatical England supporter, one result of living 22 years in the UK, I must admit without begrudging at all, that Croatia outplayed the Three Lions for all but about 15 minutes of the semi. Their football was positive, flowing, mostly free of diving and other such nonsense. Maybe in the next Final we'll see an African team. Then footy really would be a game for the whole world.
