Be social: Choose the Right Platform

in #social5 years ago

If you own a website it is important for you to have a social media presence. You probably hear this before right? I did. Now the question is which social media platform do you choose?

The standard “save choices” are Facebook and Twitter for storytelling blogs have a lot of images to share Instagram and Pinterest are great options. If you have a vlog, facebook, youtube or a podcast app. If your blog has text and images Reddit is an option.

One thing to consider is knowing which social media to choosing for your website niche. I often see people creating many social media accounts just for the sake of having them forgetting to think about a strategy but each platform has its purpose:

  • Twitter is used for immediate communication with messages of maximum of 150 characters.
  • Facebook started with sharing written stories and pictures but it is slowly turning into a video sharing platform instead where you can play videos in a post almost instantly.
  • Pinterest is the platform to share infographics and other images. Its structure is great for businesses who want to show their products in categories.
  • LinkedIn is the platform that professionals use to create their cv’s and find a job. The platform is used to share information about the world of business but is not adequate for everything. For example, if your niche is related to entertainment LinkedIn is not the best option unless your articles are about the business side of entertainment.
  • Reddit is great for sharing your articles with others and having the opportunity to receive immediate feedback on the platform.

Having a website today requires it to be mobile friendly since many people use their phone to search the internet and go on social media. So consider having a different set of social sharing platforms for your mobile site version. You see sharing your material on social media help you get more traffic but you will need a strategy. Sharing everything on all platforms is not always smart, you may look unprofessional.

Choose the right amount of quality content for your chosen social media platforms and start posting.
