I came across a deck of cards with a tax stamp so I knew it was old. They are priced .25 cents with a tax stamp value of .02 cents. WoW 10% tax on a deck of cards. It reads its from Act of AUG 1894. I find the quotes on each card to be the best. For instance 8 of diamonds MACHINIST: "I've run a lathe for eighteen years, And if I died on Sunday, And Mary paid the bills, she'd have to start to work on Monday" Or 10 of hearts CHICAGO SCHOOL TEACHER: "A teacher's not so easy as she looks, I know some things not written on books, Soon we'll vote to own the nation, In the Teachers' Federation, For we're learning how to deal with moneyed crooks"
