Satellites Over Our Heads

in #space4 years ago

Today was another good day where I was able to witness a big hunk of metal get shot into space.

As the days pass and the calendar moves forward, humanity reaches new peaks in technology. In my honest opinion, one of these peaks is the day we conquer space communications. Currently, several companies are looking into sending hundreds if not thousands of satellites onto Earth's orbit in order to establish a global broadband communication, and some companies go as far as hoping to use these satellites for interplanetary communication.

You probably know which companies I am talking about if you are interested in Space and Technology overall.

The biggest company in this aspect is probably SpaceX with their Starlink satellite constellation. I have to admit I've been watching them religiously since the first launch, to be able to provide worldwide internet for (relatively) cheap prices and with low latency is no small feat. We are talking a connection from Seattle, US to London, UK taking about 20 to 30 milliseconds in comparison to about 90 to 100 milliseconds we observe today.

OneWeb, which is relatively small scale company in comparison to SpaceX, launched a rocket from Baikonur, carrying their satellites promising the same thing.

I just find these fascinating and wanted to share it with people who are revolutionizing another aspect of our lives, social media.

OneWeb's Official Livestream of their 3rd Launch.

You can check out the rocket launch here, it's spectacular to watch.

You'll probably see me posting/commenting a lot of about SpaceX/overall Technology in the future as well.

Man how much I love space and the nerdgasms I get when I think about the future, space exploration, the exponential evolution of technology... damn... this is a topic to discuss about for hours and hours
