Oh no we will have to do far more than just visiting other planets to conquer poverty, hunger and slavery! It's just a first step, a move forward that might create new opportunities for humanity. That might be one thing of many that will improve the life of us all. I think that short term the faster travel on our earth might be a bigger propellant for change in humanities suffering.
If we are able to travel everywhere on this planet in under 30 minutes most of the time, we will start to learn faster about our planet. What is happening in other countries, how do the people the tick. Faster travel will increase our understanding and empathy and that might bring some positive changes to humanity.
