Questions I ask myself

in #space7 years ago

What really is the future of humanity?

Are we meant to be confined to this  spherical shell called earth? It is an obvious fact that our resources are limited, it is also obvious that our current energy source(fossil fuel) is neither unlimited nor  efficient at all.  It can therefore be invariably be concluded that humanity MUST escape the grip of our present dwelling place for the sake of our future and for the continuity of our great specie. (Also, for the fun of it,and satisfy our curiosity and hunger for exploration).

Way forward?

First and foremost we must identify and develop an viable alternative engines or propulsion systems . There has of course been studies in this regard. Such as Solar sails, Anti-matter drives, current conventional rockets. But the most promising is what i'll put in my term " Nuclear Engine". Its essentially a system of using the shock from the detonation of bombs of push against the craft and achieve propulsion. You may want to look-up 'Project Orion' to get more indept explanation.

But just for the fun of  it, Permit me to think out the box, say, a perpetual motion machine(PMM). Though according to thermodynamics this is impossible. But, a couple of centuries ago, no one would have believed it would have been possible to be able one communicate with someone thousands of miles away or be able to sour in the sky like birds or to even step on the moon. But all the above mentioned have been achieved.

So pause for moment and have a rethink, what if we are not to follow the route of thermodynamics? The possibilities are endless and can only be limited to the extent of  how broad one can imagine.

Welcome to my weird mind.
