RE: Report - Week 14

in #spaminator6 years ago (edited)

Wao. this is a great cause you are running here. I do a little wide reading, hoping here and there, and i have to say, @spaminator, @mack-bot, @steemcleaners, @cheetah are doing a pretty good job.

I have especially found @cheetah very handy, in revealing original sources of given works.

This allows readers to verify if the work is grossly plagiarized and not befitting of rewards, and or requiring a penalty.

I frequently cross paths with @cheetah, and whenever it cues an instances of plagiarism, i quickly verify. If true, i do the only responsible thing to do. I summon @steemcleaners and/file my report to them.

@mack-bot is especially very useful n regard to comment spammers. Overall, all these accounts are doing a thankless job, keeping steemit clean.

I can't be more grateful..

However, i have also found that all these, and many others focus on text plagiarism.

I don't know, but is there a bot that us dedicated to photo/image plagiarism? Of course @steemcleaners is always quick to respond, but only if they are directly summoned/if someone directly reports.

What i'd have wished for, is a bot, like @cheetahm that specifically scouts for plagiarized photos.

There is, to be honest, several cases of plagiarized photos, in which those who post, boldly claim ownership to works that are not theirs.

But anyway, when all is said and done, we all have a responsibility, as individuals, to report and/or penalize any such plagiarism, and trust me, i do my part.

Here Correcting, there advising, reporting the perpetual ones to @steemcleaners, and occasionally, with my BIG SP, even flagging!!

I wish everyone dispensed that responsibility. I understand that some fear for reprisals, but i it is the right thing to do, then it should be done.

Your support to the four above, is something to be appreciated. Just know it is a worthwhile cause. I personally wish i could support them more.

EDIT- And, just so you know, besides, reporting, i keep noting down in an excel sheet, spammists and abusers that i encounter on my steemit wanders, for information purpoises.

Sort:

The costs of running cheetah are pretty high. The cost of running a image version of that would be 10 times that easily. A few have tried and they don't last long. We do handle image plagiarism if it is in a creative tag: photography, art, etc.

@spaminator & @steemcleaners (these are sister projects) as well as our supporting accounts (bots) are funded currently by @anyx's witness rewards, my witness rewards, @adm, and votes from the community. Community support has been waning and we decided to create @mack-fund & @sc-fund (spaminator-fund was too long!) in an effort to diversify funding. Right now it would be hard to continue if @adm withdrew his support or @anyx lost his position in the top 20.

We appreciate your support!

Okay. That is uderstandable. I hope @mack-fund & @sc-fund thrive and bring that much needed funding.

Besides them though, it'd be equally imporatnt we drum that community support. I mean, everyone should be able to appreciate the need to keep @cheetah and the rest alive and working. Else then what?

Which is why more creative ways need be found on how the community can actually lend a hand. The good will, i trust is there. People just need to be awoken to the danger of doing otherwsie.

These projects' benefactors without question deserve to be up there in that witness list, not the least, if otherwsie means @cheetah and the rest of them, are to be affected.

As for now though, i can only do so much as cast my 'small' vote for them. Hopefully i can some time in the near future, be able to drum up some community intiative to contribute.

At any rate, rest assured, i appreciate your thankless work keeping these bots running. And i am sure many other do, too.
