Hoy os muestro la que es la cerveza más icónica y representativa de la cervecera de Hernani (San Sebastian) Basqueland Brewing. Se trata de la Imparable. Una IPA de corte clásico que es atemporal.
6.8 º grados de alcohol y 62 IBU (International Bitter Unity) con el combo de lúpulos más usado en la historia de la cerveza: Simcoe, Mosaic y Citra. Estos últimos son los verdaderos protagonistas, dotando a la cerveza de mucho cuerpo y sabor. Sobre todo notas cítricas y resinosas con un final seco y prolongado suavizado por matices frutales.
En esta ocasión la presentación es en lata de 44 cl, abandonando el clásico botellín de 33cl.
Basqueland fue fundada en 2015 en por los estadounidenses Kevin Patricio y Ben Rozzi y pronto se expandió por la totalidad de la península. Siempre presente en los bares del País Vasco, sean o no especialistas en cervezas, lo cual se agradece. Ha sido premiada en múltiples ocasiones como "Mejor Cervecera del Año". En 2021, obtuvo un récord estratosférico en el Barcelona Beer Challenge con 32 puntos, la mayor puntuación jamás otorgada en la historia del certamen, todavía hoy sigue este récord. Y hace tres años fue premiada como la mejor cervecera europa. Palabras mayores.
Actualmente, exporta aproximadamente el 30% de su producción a países como Francia, Reino Unido, Alemania, Bélgica, Noruega, Dinamarca, Países Bajos, Suiza y Austria. Es fácil encontrarse alguna de sus referencias en cualquier bar especializado en Europa.
Hace un par de meses saltó la bomba y se dio a conocer que la marca había sido vendida al Grupo Estrella de Galicia. A mí personalmente estas noticias no me gustan. Suelen venir acompañadas de una gran bajada en la calidad y la devaluación de la marca. Ojalá esto sirviera para difundir más el producto y que resulte más fácil su compra en grandes superficies. Pero no es así, aunque ojalá me equivoque.

Basqueland was founded in 2015 by Americans Kevin Patricio and Ben Rozzi and soon expanded throughout the Iberian Peninsula. It's always a presence in bars across the Basque Country, whether they're beer specialists or not, which is appreciated. It has been awarded multiple "Best Brewery of the Year" awards. In 2021, it achieved a stratospheric record at the Barcelona Beer Challenge with 32 points, the highest score ever awarded in the history of the competition, a record it still holds today. And three years ago, it was named Best European Brewery. That's quite a feat.
Currently, it exports approximately 30% of its production to countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria. It's easy to find one of its products in any specialty bar in Europe.
A couple of months ago, the bombshell was announced that the brand had been sold to the Estrella de Galicia Group. Personally, I don't like this news. It usually comes with a significant drop in quality and a devaluation of the brand. I wish this would serve to spread the word about the product and make it easier to buy in supermarkets. But that's not the case, although I hope I'm wrong.
