¿Sabias que en Venezuela existe la mayor prevalencia a nivel mundial?
Según un estudio exploratorio realizado en el 2010 tenia una prevalencia de 2540 casos por cada 100 mil habitantes, dicho estudio no esta publicado. La mayoría de los casos están ubicados en San Francisco y Lagunetas Edo Zulia.

¿Sabias que es una enfermedad hereditaria?
Pues si es hereditaria, en 1983 se descifro el origen de esta enfermedad, utilizando polimorfismos de ADN para ubicar el gen mutante que llevo hasta el brazo corto del cromosoma 4, diez años después se identifico este gen como Huntintina el cual se denomino IT15. Cabe destacar que si uno de los hijos no hereda este gen, no lo transmitirá a su descendencia.

Americo Negrette investigo el origen de la Corea en Venezuela dando con unos alemanes dedicados a la importacion de dividivi, donde dichos alemanes mantuvieron relaciones sexuales con venezolanas transmitiendo el gen.

¿Sabias que existen una clasificación del huntington?
pues le cuento que si, esta se divide segun su etiologia:

infantil afecta a niños menores de 12 años.
juvenil afecta a personas menores de 20 años
el mas común es de inicio entre 30 y 45 años.
senil afecta a personas mayores de 60 años

¿Sabias cuales son las manifestaciones clínicas del huntington?
Evidentemente el inicio de esta enfermedad y la muerte en estos pacientes varía, identificando tres estadios aproximadamente 5 años de duración cada uno, donde su deterioro es progresivo dependiendo en el que se encuentre. Primeramente, presentando trastornos psiquiátricos o motrices, donde es relativamente estable el deterioro, los pacientes son independientes, capaces de mantener sus actividades de la vida diaria, y su principal causa de muerte es por suicidio en raras ocasiones. Segundo sus discapacidades son notables presentando coreas medianamente avanzadas haciéndose llamativas, comienzan a ser dependientes al realizar sus actividades, los problemas psiquiátricos pueden acentuarse o mejorar si ya los presentaban en el primer estadio.
Por último son totalmente dependientes de cuidadores o familiares, debido a su avance en la enfermedad y teniendo como causa de muerte paro respiratorio, cardiopatias, suicidios, cáncer entre otras.

Obviously the onset of this disease and death in these patients varies, identifying three stages approximately 5 years each, where their deterioration is progressive depending on which is. First, presenting psychiatric or motor disorders, where deterioration is relatively stable, patients are independent, able to maintain their activities of daily living, and their main cause of death is by suicide on rare occasions. Second, their disabilities are noticeable, presenting moderately advanced chorea, becoming noticeable, beginning to be dependent when performing their activities, psychiatric problems can be accentuated or improved if they were already present in the first stage.
Finally, they are totally dependent on caregivers or relatives, due to their progress in the disease and having as a cause of death respiratory arrest, heart disease, suicides, cancer among others.
