Fuiste la inspiración
De una hermosa canción
Una gaita muy divina
Las estrellas iluminan
Por las noches tus paisajes
Los monos en los ramajes
Y el gran caimán al acecho
El piaroa tiene derecho
De recibir tu bendición
Al llegar la ribazón
Hay fiesta y algarabía
En toda la geografía
De mi patria majestuosa
Tus aguas tan caudalosas
Son fuentes de gran riqueza
sumadas a la belleza
Que disfrutan los turistas
Allá se pierde de vista
En el horizonte lejano
El rio padre venezolano
Reclamando sus riberas
Hoy poblaciones enteras
Conocen tu temperamento
Debajo de este firmamento
No hay rio más portentoso
